The Holistic Heart provides holistic wellness counseling that focuses on developing awareness of the connection between body, mind and spirit to understand how both physical and emotional challenges affect our health and quality of life.
Practitioner, Diane Cornell, founded The Holistic Heart with a vision of helping others to attain a balanced and harmonious life primarily through changing perceptions of the self to enable self healing to take place. Through individual or group education, Diane is committed to increasing personal awareness of the power within all of us to affect our destiny.
Holistic wellness counseling begins with a consultation intended as an educational experience in which clients will learn to identify their individual strengths, goals, and personal power. Focusing on positive attributes leads to a better understanding of certain behaviors and thought patterns that may not be conducive to living a vibrant healthy life. Clients are guided through methods and exercises designed to foster an understanding of the reasons for certain behaviors, and come to a realization of the need to change certain negative thoughts and behaviors to enjoy improved health.
Group workshops are available for community outreach, workplace seminars, health care facilities, fitness centers, schools, church groups, etc.
The principles of Ayurveda are incorporated into the philosophy and guidance offered at The Holistic Heart. Ayurveda is one of the oldest if not the oldest health care system in the world. It was developed in India between 5,000 and 6,000 years ago. The word Ayurveda literally translates as Life Knowledge. The primary goal of Ayurveda is to promote a healthy body and mind, free from disease and discomfort to be able to pursue a path of enlightenment. The science of Ayurveda pre-dates Chinese medicine and ancient Greek medicine. Ayurvedic texts from 3,000 BCE contain information on general health care as well as specialized disciplines such as surgery, psychology, pediatrics, gynecology, and geriatrics. Ayurveda considers each person to be a unique individual and so should receive wellness counseling based upon individual needs. According to the science of Ayurveda, most health issues can be improved by adhering to a proper diet and living a wholesome and regular lifestyle. A healthy individual is considered to be balanced and lives in harmony with his or her environment.
